Last week, Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner won two decisive victories in her campaign for the U.S. Senate. The first GOP county conventions resulted in double-digit victories for Christine, who won Hunterdon County with 57% of the vote –– following the endorsement of the County GOP Selection Committee –– and Union County with 66%, both in three-way races. This is a strong start as the campaign moves on to county conventions across New Jersey, leading into the GOP Primary Election on Tuesday, June 4.
Coming in a distant second place in these contests was developer Curtis Bashaw, a longtime financial supporter of Democrat candidates, an appointee of his political ally Democrat Governor James McGreevey –– Bashaw was “one of the few people at Drumthwacket with McGreevey” while McGreevey planned his resignation speech –– and an ardent opponent of President Donald Trump.
GOP county committee members and Republican primary voters should be aware that Curtis Bashaw is not only a Democrat in Republican clothing, but also has partnered with and financially benefited from Chinese firms that scoop up American real estate.
Most alarming is that in 2017, Bashaw joined forces with a “state run Chinese construction giant” on a development site in Hudson Yards in New York City. His partner, China State Construction Engineering, is associated with the People’s Liberation Army, which is why President Trump blacklisted the company by Executive Order, banning work with CSCE and other companies that have links to the Chinese military.
These facts about Bashaw’s business dealings with the Chinese, drawn from published news stories, require scrutiny by NJ GOP County Committee members and Republican primary voters. After all, New Jersey voters are tired of Senate candidates who sell out to foreign governments
Is Bashaw’s campaign being funded with money he’s made from the Chinese Communist Party or the People’s Liberation Army?
To be clear, we believe Bashaw should immediately divest his business interests with China and declare his intent to never do business with the Chinese again.
Christine Serrano Glassner is a principled conservative who has endorsed President Trump and is running to restore integrity to New Jersey’s seat in the U.S. Senate following years of cronyism and corruption at the hands of the Democrats. Bashaw offers the same thing as the Democrats’ Biden-Menendez-Murphy-McGreevey cabal, and we have seen the devastation to hard working New Jersey families that has produced. New Jersey deserves better.
